The aim of this policy is to set out guidelines for all staff in school in the administering of First Aid to children, employees or visitors. What is First Aid?
First-aid is the treatment given for any injury or sudden illness prior to any professional medical help provided. The primary objective of first aid is to alleviate suffering, facilitate healing process and minimize damage. First aid is important to prevent the minor injuries to become major one. School is accurately equipped to provide necessary first aid in any emergency.
First aid Kit:
First aid kit is the key to be prepared for any type of accident, illness and emergency. Our first aid kit is complied with Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. It includes First aid manual, Gauze, Scissors, Tape, Wound cleanser, Dettol, Antibiotic ointment, Bandages, Cotton, Gloves, Hand sanitizers, Tweezers, Thermometer, Bug spray and medications including Panadol Tab, Ponston Tab and Brufin. - Kept out of the reach of children.
Medical emergencies at School:
A teacher is available at all times to provide first aid in any emergency. The first aider will provide any needed help to facilitate the injured person who needs first aid and make best judgement about whether to call medical help and ambulance or not. In case of serious emergencies, after providing first aid, ambulance is called and parents are informed about the incident. Two competent members of school to travel with child to the hospital until parents arrives.
